Simple strip-pieced block.
Out of background fabric, cut three strips 1 1/8" x 7".
Out of main block fabric, cut three strips 1 1/8" x 7".
Sew them together along the long edges, alternating fabrics.
Cut the resulting 4 1/4" x 7" pieced section into six 1 1/8" wide sections and flip each second section 180 degrees.
Sew all six sections together as below.
Out of background fabric, cut
One strip 7/8" x 4 1/4"
Two strips 7/8" x 4 5/8"
One strip 7/8" x 5".
Referring to the block diagram, sew these strips to the outside edges of the block log-cabin style.
(The block isn't as wonky as it looks. It just wouldn't lay flat for the photo.)
