Advice Please

I wasn't happy with the waviness of the sashing in my little test quilt, so I decided to quilt it too.

  1. Def love the after pic...I like them both but the sashing quilted just completes it. Beautiful

  2. I think it looks great - I think quilting the sashing helps to tame it...and gives some really interesting depth. :)

  3. I like the quilted sashing better than not quilting it, however, I wonder if a different stitching pattern would help the individual blocks stand out more. The way you have it stitched now it is hard to tell where one block stops and the next starts. I definitely liked the sashing stitched though.

  4. I prefer the unquilted sashings, as they better delineate the blocks. A different quilting pattern might do the same thing, though those sashings are rather small, so that might not be noticeable enough.

  5. I like that it's all quilted. Even though the pieces are sooo small, it makes a difference!

  6. The sashing stands out more if not quilted which makes the blocks show up better. How about a single line down the middle of each sashing piece to stabilize it and prevent waviness? I am following your progress closely as all my DJ blocks are done but I am paralyzed about sashing and quilting for fear of making a mess after all that work on the blocks. Good luck!

  7. Oooo!!!! I definitely like the look of the quilted sashing better than the before picture. But I agree with Chay-- doing some straight lines would help to define the individual blocks better, I think... kind of like a frame.

I need to work on my Jane!!! :)

  9. A completely different approach is getting a low loft batt i.e. Quilters Dream "Request" has a low loft.
